Chip Carving, known as "KERBSCHNITZEN", has been around for hundreds of years. Very popular in Europe especially Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Craftsmen would carve on most anything they could get their hands on including chairs, tables, milking stools, bread boards, butter boards, milk pails, water buckets or even doors. Few tools are required including, pencil, compass, ruler, eraser, paper and a couple of Chipping Knives, of course patience is a very important requisite.
